The subject matter for this essay must pertain to home residential services and the benefits of those services. The essay must be at least 1000 words in length and properly submitted by the application deadline of April 30, 2019.

All applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents of the United States. Incoming Freshman:

Applicant must be a current senior high school or home school student and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale and must have taken either the ACT or SAT test. Applicant must be earning a GED or high school diploma between January 1, 2016 and August 1, 2016 and will be attending an accredited college or university by Fall semester 2016.

Current Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate students:

Applicant must have a cumulative college GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale, and be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university between August 1, 2015 and December 31, 2016.



Only one (1) applicant will receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship that can be applied to college expenses, such as; tuition, fees, books, or on-campus housing for the 2016 calendar year.

Funds are provided by Killingsworth Environmental and will be made payable directly by mail to the accredited university or college submitted by application during essay submission.



After the application deadline, which is April 30, 2019, a panel of judges that work with or directly for Killingsworth Environmental will review all entries received prior to the deadline. Essays are judged on creativity, writing quality, research, and etc. The winner will be announced by the first week of May on and will be notified via email that was submitted with essay entry. The recipient’s essay will be shared on’s website, social media channel, and any other marketing channels to promote the winner. If the winner is disqualified or fails to contact Killingsworth Environmental within 48 hours of being notified, Killingsworth Environment reserves the right to select an alternative applicant or not to award the scholarship at all, in the company’s sole discretion.



By participating in Killingsworth Environmental’s scholarship program, each applicant agrees to the following; (A) releases Killingsworth Environmental and its employees from any liability or claim of any form for loss, claim, damages or injury of any kind associated with participating in this scholarship program and acceptance, possession or use of any prize associated with this program; (B) accepts and agrees to be bound by these rules and Killingsworth Environmental’s decisions relating to the scholarship program’s participation, winner selection and announcement, scholarship award, eligibility, requirements, and all such decisions being final; and (C) the recipient must complete an affidavit of eligibility and release (to be signed by his/her parent or legal guardian, if the recipient is a minor), on forms to be provided by Killingsworth Environmental. The recipient must be actively enrolled full-time as a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior or grad student between August 1, 2015 and December 31, 2016 without interruption, barring illness, emergency or military service. It is the recipient’s responsibility to verify receipt of funds with his/her designated institution and notify Killingsworth Environmental if the award check does not arrive on or about 30 days from the issue date. By submitting an entry in this scholarship program, each applicant must provide original work, and agrees that Killingsworth Environmental will have a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide right and license to use the submission in any manner. Killingsworth Environmental has the right to disqualify any submission for any reason, including without limitation: materials not suitable for general public viewing; obscene, lewd or offensive materials; the use of third-party content or other materials not authored by the applicant; and materials previously published or entered into any other competition. Killingsworth Environmental is not responsible for lost, late, damaged or illegible submissions, faulty transmissions, or submissions containing any virus or other system malfunction. Judges’ decisions are final. Any taxes are recipient’s responsibility. Killingsworth Environmental reserves the right to alter, discontinue or cancel the scholarship program at any time without notice for any reason, including in the event of fewer than 20 applicants. Only one (1) entry per person will be accepted. Scholarship void where prohibited.
