Termite Prevention: Our Step-by-Step Process
Our process for preventing termites is one that is based on science. The Sentricon® Always Active™ system not only kills termites that come into contact with it but also destroys the entire colony!
Initial Inspection
First, we’ll thoroughly inspect your residence and property for signs of termite activity, conduct a termite damage assessment and identify conditions conducive to termite infestations.
Sentricon® Always Active™ Installation
Experienced termite control professionals will strategically place termite bait stations in the soil around the home. Recruit HD, the active ingredient in each bait station, has been scientifically proven to eliminate an entire termite colony—comprising of thousands of wood damaging insects—with as little as one tube of bait. Once the system is installed, the bait is immediately available to foraging termites. Termites will then share the bait until the total colony is eliminated, including the queen, with no harmful chemicals left behind.
Annual Monitoring for New Termite Activity
We will continue to monitor the Sentricon® System with Always Active™ to protect your home against future termite infestations and replenish bait as needed to ensure no lapse in protection.
Elimination of Termite Conducive Conditions
During our inspections, we identify any issues that may affect the success of your termite protection plan. This includes an inspection of the exterior perimeter, garage, and interior on slab homes, or the crawl space on homes with a crawl space. Identification of poor moisture control and untreated wood to ground contact are all important factors to consider.
Termite infestations can appear as… Small, pinhole sized openings in the structure with the presence of dirt. Winged swarming insects flying in or around the home. Both wings of the insects are equal in size. Termites construct mud tubes to control moisture and protection against temperature fluctuation and predators. They are approximately the width of a straw and can be found on the interior or exterior of a structure. Termites generally eat from the inside out, so tapping on areas of concern can produce a hollow sound when damage is present. Still not sure if you have termites? Contact us today at 704-563-8787.
The main differences when comparing termite swarmers and ant swarmers are their wings and bodies. Though both pests have 4 wings, the termite swarmer’s wings are all equal in length while the ant’s wings are shorter and darker in color. Additionally, the bodies of termite swarmers are much thicker than ant swarmers and do not have a pinched waist.
Termite damage can often be confused with wood rot. Termite damage will typically appear wavy with smooth hollowed out channels, while wood rot will feel soft and appear darker in color. In most cases, termite damage also has the presence of dirt. For more information on how to identify termite damage in your home, take a look at our blog, 7 Signs of Termites In Your Home.
